Celebrity News!

I must say, there is nothing like coming home late after a long day, and having a cat puke her dinner all over the kitchen floor at midnight. That made for a gross end of day yesterday. At least, she doesn't appear sick, which means no trip to the vet. There is always a silver lining.

I'm tired these days, and I'm trying to get back into working out regularly like I used to because I feel all doughy otherwise. Boy, is it tough. I just don't have the energy... I wish days had more than 24 hours in them!

Okay, I like to spread celebrity gossip (well, substantiated one). Did you see that Nic Cage named his new son Kal-el? You know, like Superman's name on Krypton... Seriously, I think the English translation for this name will be "He who gets beaten up on the playground by others who think he should have superpowers". *shakes head*

Oh, there is a Cruise-Holmes spawn in the works. That means little Joey Potter is actually stuck with freaky Tommy. And we shall be inundated with publicity about the wonderous spawn. Oh, the humanity.

It's a beautiful day in Toronto. The sun is shining brightly, and it is not too hot. :)

I had a nice night out yesterday. Long walk, good company (Hi David, if you're reading :)), tasty coffee, it was very pleasant. We went to the first non-denominational cemetary in the city. Sadly, we got there not long before they were going to close. Who knew cemetaries close? Anyway, we need to go back to find the famous tombstones. I was thinking that I don't find cemetaries creepy at all. I did when I was a kid but somehow, death doesn't scare me as much as it used to. There is something oddly peaceful about it all. Mind you, it wouldn't have been exactly cool to be locked in there at night since that sounds like the beginning of a horror movie but still... LOL I love the history you find in cemetaries too, and I like reading tombstones. One of them said "She was a lot of fun." I think that's a very cool thing to have there for eternity.

Today's Funny Relief

My mention of the day goes to the Daily Show writers for figuring out that an anagram of the banner "Mission Accomplished" that Bush used on the day he proclaimed the war in Iraq over was "C'mon I lied, so scampish". I laughed at that one for a while.

I had also to mention 3 findings in the realm of entertaining blogs...

First up, the first blog I ever read regularly, Dave Barry's blog. It never fails to crack me up. People send in links to weird and funny news blurbs and other items. Here is one of today's entries: Ebay Item You Should Not Click on While Eating Of The Day So Far. Sexy skirt for £0.99 & the picture...is a little scary. Hee.

Second, Go Fug Yourself. I mentioned it occasionally on my previous blog but, for not those tuning in then, this is just a fun place to visit. Marvel at all the ugly clothes stars that likely cost their owners a fortune. I agree with Jessica and Heather, the bloggers of Go Fug Yourself, it's dismaying to see the leggings making a comeback. Yikes.

I don't remember where I found this third link, probably at TWoP boards, but regardless it's awesome for a good laugh! I'm Tom Cruise, and I'm in LOVE!!! The picture of Tom as a crowned king in today's entry is priceless.

Girls' Bike Club: "Shut Up Tom Cruise" edition

Sars at Tomato Nation has The Vine, her rocking advice column, as well as many interesting essays. My favourite series of essays is without a doubt the Girls' Bike Club. The Girls' Bike Club is basically a collection of male celebrities who either get into legal problems or are generally acting like idiots, jackasses, and/or douchebags. The format of the essays is just as a discussion between Sars and her friend Wing. It always cracks me up so. Well, this week's essay is all about Crazy Tom Cruise, and angry Russell Crowe. It's a good read.

Seriously, what is up with Tom Cruise? I'm very empathetic towards people who suffer from mental illness, not that Cruise suffers from one as Scientologists believe there is no such thing as mental illness or, at least, nothing that can't be solved with vitamins. *shakes head* Anyway, regardless, it's very sad and dismaying to see him unravelling like that. Sanity is a sad thing to misplace.

Besides that, I'm reading Vanity Fair in my very scarce free time (i.e., while eating a meal or on the subway). Anyway, good profile of Nicole Kidman, if not exactly hard-hitting. But she doesn't deserve to be hit hard at this time (see crazy Tom and his formely-charming teen star bride-to-be). There is also an interesting story about the Michael Jackson's trial, an event I've been avoiding like the plague. There is also a piece on Iran, and the article I've been waiting for, the revelation of the real identity of Deep Throat. Can't wait to read it.

Prior to my purchase of Vanity Fair, I was reading "Un dimanche à la piscine à Kigali", a semi-fictionalized story about the genocide in Rwanda. Very well-written book on a very disturbing topic.

Picked up Gwen Stefani's "Love. Angel. Music. Baby." & "Motown Unmixed" at HMV today. I'm currently playing Gwen Stefani's album, and it's wonderful!

Wow, I realized I was able to talk about a bunch of things not involving my job. Unbelievable! Good thing because I had a really long & somewhat stressful day. I love teaching but it's one tough job.
