Because I'm Not All About Hate...

I can usually see the silver lining in the day. Speaking of which, aren't you happy to have a blog now roommate-rant free? So, so lovely. The kitty and I adore our new digs. I love that my work desk has a big window right next to it, and I can look at the busy street and people walking by while thinking. I adore that, even if it means I hear the city buses stop in front of the building every 5 minutes. I adore that my bedroom is for sleeping, and my living area is for work. I adore that I can organize things as I wish. I adore that the cat can run, and no one screams bloody murder. I adore that I can listen to music or have the TV in the background while working. I adore that I can hang my laundry to dry on the shower pole without anyone complaining. I adore that I can leave dishes in the sink over night without it becoming World War 3. I adore that my food has all the space it needs in the fridge. I adore that no one is moving my stuff around. My place is organized and clean, and doesn't have 4 gazillion carpets that need cleaning every day.

Talking of the ex-roommate, she has been trying to be very nice. She came by twice last week to see the cat, and came to give me a plant as a move-in gift. Very sweet. Clearly, we're better neighbours than roommies.

Oh, I'm listening to TLC's CrazySexyCool, which I hadn't listened to in a while. That is still one of my favourite albums. Perfect title by the way. Those songs make me feel a bit of all three.

I Hate...

when I feel I have been running all weekend, and yet, so little has actually been accomplished. I have accomplished things, but the pile went down by so little. Ugh. I am just having one of those moments at which my life makes me panic and hate myself. It shall pass. I need a cup of coffee... LOL

At least, I can say I fixed and cleaned a few things around the apartment, and went shopping for houseware like a carpet for the entrance of my apartment, coasters, a S video cable for my DVD player after mine broke, a fruit bowl for my kitchen table that is not made of blue plastic (LOL), and bath towels. So exciting. LOL At least, I found good bargains! Still haven't found a nice cloth to camouflage my small filing cabinet though. I also got quite a bit of work done so not all is lost, I guess.

The Beauty of the Internet Is...

that you can find info on anything out there. So I was called last week to ask if I'd be willing to watch a pilot for a new sitcom. Since you all know my devotion to TV sitcoms, you must know how excited that made me. I might get to see something new that was good and offbeat, and I would be able to tell them so. Or I might prevent somebody from putting another awful, awful sitcom on the air. I got the package today, and looked at the material. There was a self-erasing tape for a sitcom called Dads, but the response material was all about commercials. Huh. It felt fishy so I went looking online. This pilot is 9 years old (i.e., this is never meant to be picked up, probably sucks, & is just a cover story for a study. I kind of know about those! LOL). From comments of other people online, it is indeed only a marketing study. I never watch commercials so I'm not about to start! I always mute the TV when they come on. This is too bad, because it could have been fun. Meh.

Wednesday Night Is Alright For Working and Relaxing

A big hi to my girls Shri and Kir who found their way over here recently. Nice to have you here in my little corner of the Internet! :)

Life has been crazy busy recently, but I finally decided to go to the movies this week since it is one of my favourite things to do, and I hadn't been in at least 2-3 months. On Monday night, I went with my friend Jeremey to see Strangers with Candy, which was so wrong and yet so funny. It had been a while since I had seen a movie that made me laugh so much. I don't think I could love Stephen Colbert any more, and I lurve Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. They also recruited Matthew Broderick as an evil science teacher, Alison Janney and Philip Seymour Hoffman as science fair judges, and Sarah Jessica Parker as a wacky grief counsellor. Loved the movie.

Then, last night, I saw that there was going to be a free screening of Little Miss Sunshine tonight at theatre near my house so I decided to go. I saw the reviews for it from the Sundance Festival back in the winter, and I've been waiting ever since to see it. It was a dark comedy, just the way I like them. The ending was so funny! Basically, it is about a family who drives in a RV from Alburquerque to California to attend a child pageant because their daughter really wants to compete. Greg Kinnear plays a failed motivational speaker and his supportive wife is played by Toni Collette. I love those two. There is also Steve Carell plays the gay university professor uncle who has just attempted suicide and is under their watch. This is a pretty dramatic role, but he kicks butt as always. There is also Olive, the unusual pageant daughter, their teenage son who has made a vow of silence, and the wacked out grandfather. Seriously, it is all kinds of awesome. Very touching and very funny. Plus, any movie that has Steve Carell dancing is alright with me! (It wasn't boss of dancing awesome, but still good.)

Tonight I also treated myself to a bubblebath complete with pear/linden bubblebath, scented candle, and a drink. It was a beautiful thing. I'm so relaxed now. Yet, I have to get back to work. Such is the irony of life. *hugs to all my readers out there*

TV-Related Comments...

- I had Seinfeld playing in the background, and it was the sponge episode. I heard a familiar voice in the background talking with Elaine... Turns out that Elaine's sponge-worthy guy? Is Scott Patterson from The Gilmore Girls. How about that. He is really hard to recognize though. I don't know what it is, maybe the hair.

- Tina Fey announced she is leaving SNL. I used to like her a lot of SNL, but Weekend Update has not been so good lately so maybe a shake-up will be good. I'm sad though to see Rachel Dratch leaving as well.

- I finally got courage to post online some Office fanfiction I wrote. It had been kicking around for a while on my hard drive, and I finally finished editing it and got the courage to post it. Ah yes, my friends, that is my dirty little secret. I can't help writing fiction. I'm not a great writer by any mean, but I love it. I used to write X-Files fanfic (without posting it) and now, I write Office fanfic. Anyway, if you are curious, they live here: A Walk in The Rain and To Make You Feel My Love.

Fun With Technology!

Again, a technology-related mystery, but not as infuriating as a non-working computer. I'm trying to hook up my VCR to my TV, but I have digital cable, and the little box gets angry (as in makes the picture fuzzy) when I hook up my VCR. I guess it does not like having its signal go through it. Meh. Good thing I don't care too much about my VCR. LOL

Digital cable is standard nowadays as far as I was told, so that's what I took. I took the most basic package for 33$. Somehow, I have the time-shifting channels (I can watch channels in central time zones and west coast), which I didn't realize until right now was part of the package. It is pretty neat. I get to have so much more choices than with regular cable. With basic standard cable, I used to pay 25$/month, and get only 28 channels. Now, I have 100 channels! I get channels that I love (like the Comedy Network) in other time zones even though I didn't get that package for my time zone. Not going to try to figure that one out, I'll just enjoy it.

Holy Move, Batman!

I'm writing this blog from my brand new apartment. I'm exhausted yet so happy. The last 3 days have been manic. I've been working like a dog, scrubbing, packing, organizing, shopping, in the midst of everything else going on. It looks pretty darn awesome even unfinished. And I can fit in more than I thought. I have been used to being creative with use of space so it is nice to feel like I have room to breathe. My parents and my friend David came to help today, which was most appreciated. My parents left 2 hours ago, but I'm still working away. I hope to have more completed by the time they get here tomorrow morning, but fatigue is catching up with me. Anyway, it is too bad I don't have a digital camera to show the final results. I might just take pics with my regular camera, and I know they put them on a CD at my photo place.

Night all!

Ewan McGregor is a Tomato and Judi Dench a Lobster...

An ad for a British movie channel that is chock full of celebrities. It has Lucy Liu, Rhys Ifans, Mackenzie Crook (Gareth from The Office UK), Willem Dafoe, Gael Garcia Bernal. Awesome. And yes, Ewan is dressed up as a tomato. I love him for it.

Arrested Development Movie, Baby!

Alia Shawkat, who played Maeby on Arrested Development, mentioned in a recent interview that there are serious talks about making an AD movie:

TVGuide.com: Do you think there might be an Arrested movie at some point? The final episode implied as much when your character, Maeby, tried to sell the rights to the Bluth story to Ron Howard.
Shawkat:
Mitch actually recently told us that there is a good possibility for a movie, and that he's talking to Ron Howard about it.

Awesome! Although I hope it doesn't take as long to happen as other movies based on TV shows.

Basic Math Lesson

You told me to pay for 2 weeks of everything so no, I do not owe you 40$ for cable. I'll explain the math again.

A 2-month 160$ cable/Internet bill divided between 2 roommates= 80$ each
A roommate who will only be there 2 weeks in those 2 months= 1/4= 20$
I thought it was 120$ and that I owed 15$. So maybe I forgot to give you 5$. But I'm moving in under a month notice so get over yourself. I'm not trying to get away with highway robbery here.
Plus, is it a conversation we need to have right this minute through my bedroom door before I had coffee and while I'm trying to get dressed? Jesus.

Laugh of The Day: The Onion Silliness
