I rented the season 1 DVDs of The Flight of the Conchords over the weekend. Very funny show. I noticed that one of the writers was the creator of one of my all-time favourite shows, NewsRadio so I'm not surprised it's up my comedic alley.

Somebody gave me a link to the song Sarah Silverman sang on Jimmy Kimmel a few weeks ago called "I'm F&%*ing Matt Damon".



I'm usually not a fan of Jimmy Kimmel or Sarah Silverman, but that was very funny. Both Matt Damon and Sarah Silverman were very game, and went all out.

So tonight, I didn't turn off my television right after the Oscars, and caught the beginning of Jimmy Kimmel's Oscar special. And he had a rebuttal for that initial song:



That was truly hilarious. I can't believe how many celebrities he recruited to sing about his love for Ben Affleck.

The Wonder That Is The Internet! Plus YouTube-a-palooza!

Those who know me in real life know I have a fairly unusual name. So I was really surprised when someone with the same exact name contacted me on Facebook and she lives right near where I live. How crazy is that? Especially given that she speaks French, and it is not exactly full of French speakers around here. I thought that was cool.

I couldn't sleep early this morning so I played with YouTube from links at a board I frequent. But whenever I get one link, it leads me to something else and so now... Anyway, I present to you fun clips from my hunt.

100 Movies, 100 Quotes, 100 Numbers. This video is amazing. They've compiled 100 movie clips with each number from 1 to 100. It's so cool. Oh, and I had totally guessed what they would use for number 11! LOL (11, 43, and 71 are in my Top 20 favourite movies! :))

(Not So) Clean Fun

So after I went to the ballet on Saturday night (which was outstanding), I went to see "Knocked Up". Talk about a different plane of entertainment... LOL Anyway, it was funny and I liked, but not nearly as much as I had enjoyed "The 40-Year-Old Virgin". I think Steve Carell really took that movie to another level. Plus, his chemistry with Catherine Keener was wonderful whereas while Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl were good, they were nothing outstanding. By the way, "Knocked Up" is raunchier than "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" if that is possible...

Before "Knocked Up", there were some previews and Seth Rogan's next movie is called "Superbad" and it stars Michael Cera (aka George Michael from "Arrested Development"!) Looks very funny. So I'll add that to my list of upcoming movies to watch out for. The one movie I want to go see this week or next is "Waitress". I need to go before it closes.

By the way, my blog turned 2 yesterday! How time flies by!

Move Aside Motion Sickness, I've Got Audiobooks

I am always in search of something to entertain me on my daily bus ride. I would love to read or do Sudoku puzzles but inevitably, I get motion sickness. I figured an audiobook would be a good solution, and so I went to the library and I borrowed Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim written (or in this case, read) by David Sedaris. I have not finished yet, but this is just beyond hilarious. I had to try to stiffle my laughter on the bus. The way he describes his parents' sleeping patterns as living with two housecats, his comparison of Santa Claus vs. the Dutch St. Nicholas, and his retelling of his brother's Paul wedding are endlessly entertaining. I suspect the audiobook may be even more entertaining than the written book since he imitates the voices of his family members and it is just hilarious. Not that he is new on the scene in any way, but I just enjoy when I discover a new author I have an affinity with.

Just a Little Announcement

So I got the internship I wanted! Yay!!! It also means I need to get a lot of stuff done by September to be able to start said internship, which is frightening. Just wanted to say that I am going to be blogging very little for the next few weeks/months. The dissertation pressure kicking up a notch or two or twenty is all I can handle. As much as I needed a kick in the butt, for those who remember the last few months of my Masters, it's also not too much fun. LOL Anyway, I'll try to post stuff every so often but I'll see. Emails will be greatly appreciated, and will be answered promptly. Write to me even if only to tell me silly stories or send me virtual hugs. I'll need them.

As a parting gift ;), here is one of my favourite jokes. It's a mindless joke from one of my favourite French-speaking comic who used to do these really deep monologues but would make silly jokes like that from time to time. I'm not a great joketeller but I think it translates fairly well so enjoy. :)

On a cold autumn afternoon, a guy who was walking on a country road found a little bird on the side of the road. The poor bird was really cold, and appeared dead. The guy picked up the bird, and heard a faint heartbeat. So the guy decided to try warming up the bird by rubbing it between his hands. After a few minutes, the guy saw that it didn't seem work. He then saw some fresh horse dung close by. He figured that this might work in warming up the bird. So he put the little bird in the dung, and after a few moments, the bird appeared to come back to life. The bird was gaining back his strength and started chirping away. A cat that was walking by heard the bird singing. The cat took the bird out of the dung, and ate it.

There are 3 morals to this story.
1) When someone puts you in shit, it is not always done with evil intent.

2) When someone helps you out of shit, it is not always for your own good.

3) When you're in shit, SHUT UP!

Yes, I Am Still Alive and Kicking...

Hee. I spent time in Montreal, far, far away from the computer. It was nice to spend time just mucking around with my family. On Friday, I watched the exciting skeleton competition with my dad, and watched crime shows with my mom. We had never realized we both love real crime shows so we spent a few hours on Friday night lounging on the couch. My mom likes to say it's to train for her future as a PI/cop. LOL

I spent Saturday with my friend Eve. We went shopping, which was fun except I got a bit lost driving (Not my fault! The road has been modified recently in a neighbourhood I'm familiar with & the new signs suck badly!) and I broke the necklace I bought ohhh... about 10 seconds after buying it. Yeah, I dropped the shopping bag containing said necklace, and the string of the necklace broke. Anyway, I bought some string, and I was able to fix it. :) Then, we went out for dinner, and went to Eve's with DVDs. It was very cold (like -30 celsius cold) so staying inside (or insane as I first typed it! LOL) was a must.

We rented 2 movies, one in French and then, The Aristocrats. I believe Eve and I are unbelievably twisted because we laughed so much at that latter movie. The Aristocrats is a documentary/retelling by numerous comedians of the filthiest joke ever told. (Trust me, it is pretty much as unspeakable as it gets! Hee.) It's sort of the jazz equivalent of joke telling. The first sentence and the punchline are always the same but the riffing in between is unique to each person who tells it. Bob Saget has by far the most twisted version but my favourite tellings were probably by George Carlin, Steven Wright, Howie Mandel, and Paul Reiser. I know there were other good ones, one by a card magician who used cards to tell the joke. Eric Idle was just riffing and was hilarious. Jon Stewart was there (he was in The Daily Show's makeup chair while being interviewed) but refused to tell the joke! It was cute. Oh, and Eric Idle was funny just because he always is. Anyway, I recommend it only if you have a high tolerance for twisted humour. By the way, you may want to quit 20 minutes into it thinking there possibly be more. Stick with it, it does pick up again!

On Sunday, I did a lot of uninteresting things but then, I went to see my grandma, which is always a nice thing. My grand-maman is going to be 80 this year! Anyway, she gave my mom a big pile of trashy Quebecois star magazines (US Weekly/People-like magazines) to pass along to someone else we know. My brother and I cracked ourselves up so much thumbing through the pile. We love snark.

Monday, I went by my brother's office for some dental treatments. I have spots and bumps on my teeth due to too much fluoride growing up (took care a bit too much of my teeth growing up!) so I've had caps on my front teeth for 15+ years. They were old and needed to be replaced. Anyway, my brother removed them. He did such a good job polishing my teeth to get rid of some of the spots that I may not need new caps. Plus, my brother got me outfitted with this awesome bleaching kit, and if the spots are totally gone after that, no caps! I say wheeeee to that possibility.

Anyway, that is my life in a (long) nutshell! :) I promise not to disappear too much!
